In the following example response, we include the notation "[tap]" to show when you should definitely pause for a beat before continuing. Many students are so focused on other parts of their speaking that they speed through and forget to pause before giving examples. For these moments, it's a useful tool for students to actually stop talking and use their hand / finger to physically tap on the table in front of them.
Q. If one wants to succeed in business, being sociable and outgoing is more important than having a sharp business mind. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Example: "When it comes to succeeding in business, I agree that being outgoing and social is more important. [tap] I believe this for multiple reasons. [tap] First of all, [tap] the world of business is built upon relationships, which means that people who are better at cultivating them can expand their social circles effectively.
